AAAS: Leadership in Science Education Prize for High School Teachers

The American Association for the Advancement of Science Leadership in Science Education Prize for High School Teachers recognizes high school science teachers for the development and implementation of innovative methods for teaching, encouraging the next generation of scientists. Science teachers must be nominated by an administrator within their school, their district, or their state who is in a position to know the nominee's work and to assess the extent of its impact on others. Maximum award: $1,000. Eligibility: teachers currently employed as science instructors in a public or private school for grades 9-12 in the United States or its territories. AASL: Collaborative School Library Award

Recognizes and encourages collaboration and partnerships between school librarians and teachers in meeting goals outlined in Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Programs through joint planning of a program, unit, or event in support of the curriculum, using school library resources. Maximum award: $2,500 to the recipient's school library. Eligibility: school librarians who are personal members of the AASL. American Civic Education Teacher Awards

The American Civic Education Teacher Awards recognize educators annually for their exemplary work in preparing young people to become informed and engaged citizens. Maximum award: trip to Washington, D.C. to take part in an educational program that includes attending floor sessions and committee hearings in the U.S. Congress, meeting members of Congress and other key officials, and visiting historical sites such as the National Archives and the U.S. Supreme Court. Eligibility: elementary and secondary teachers of civics, government, and related subjects, who have demonstrated special expertise in motivating students to learn about the Constitution, Congress, and public policy. American Historical Association: Awards for Teaching of History

The American Historical Association Beveridge Family Teaching Prize recognizes excellence and innovation in elementary, middle school, and secondary history teaching, including career contributions and specific initiatives. The individual can be recognized either for individual excellence in teaching or for an innovative initiative applicable to the entire field. Maximum award: $1,500. Eligibility: teachers K-12. Carnegie/New York Times: I Love My Librarian Award

The Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award recognizes the accomplishments of exceptional public, school, college, community college, or university librarians. Maximum award: $5,000, a plaque, and $500 travel stipend to attend an awards reception in New York hosted by The New York Times. Eligibility: school, public, college, or university librarians. Harold McGraw, Jr., Prize in Education

The 2008 Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education celebrates the theme of global awareness in U.S. education and recognizes those behind educational programs that help students develop the knowledge and skills they need to function as workers, citizens, and fulfilled individuals in an increasingly interconnected world. Maximum award: $25,000. Eligibility: policymakers, leaders in higher education, and school-based personnel. Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching recognize highly qualified teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession. Maximum award: $10,000; a paid trip for two to Washington, D.C. to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities; a citation signed by the President of the United States. Eligibility: teachers of grades 7-12 in a public or private school with five years' experience teaching math or science. TASH: Breakthroughs in Inclusive Education Awards

The TASH Breakthroughs in Inclusive Education Awards honor important contributions of individuals and school districts in advancing inclusive education and equitable opportunities for students grades K-12, particularly those with the most significant disabilities and support needs. Awardees will be selected from these categories: Inclusive Education Administrator of the Year; Inclusive Education Teacher of the Year; Inclusive Education Advocate of the Year; Most Promising Inclusive School; Most Promising Inclusive School District. Maximum award: All awardees will be recognized at the TASH 2010 Conference in Denver, Co., December 8-10, 2010, in the conference program, on the TASH website and at the general session. Attendees will receive a commemorative plaque, and TASH will promote awardees' accomplishments to the trade media and local press. Eligibility: school districts and education professionals that work inclusively with students K-12 with disabilities. Deadline: October 1, 2010. http://www.tash.org/awards_breakthroughs.html
